7 Photos Every Salon Should Be Posting On Social Media For a Consistent Brand
HEADSHOTS
First up is fresh headshots. Now, I’m not talking about that headshot you have from 5 years ago that you still use for everything, I’m talking about FRESH headshots taken every year that are up-to-date images of everyone working at the salon. It’s important that potential clients can see the faces of the exact person that would be doing their hair, or nails, or lashes, or facial, or anything! That connection between the professional and the client can be established before they even meet and it’s important to build that trust right from the start. Headshots are great on you website to introduce your beauty pro but also on social media to highlight each professional on their own.
TEAM GROUP SHOTS
Team photos are an amazing way to show everyone that makes up the heart of your business at a glance. Team photos are great for about pages on websites as well as periodical introductions to new followers or potential clients on social media.
INTERIOR + EXTERIOR PHOTOS
Have you ever been trying to figure out what restaurant you want to go to and started googling photos of the interior to see if you liked their “vibe”? Well, the same goes for salons, maybe even more so! Bring your clients into your space before they even step through the door and show them exactly what they can expect.
HIGHLIGHTED PRODUCT PHOTOS
Okay, it’s no secret in the salon world that not only is your largest profit margin product sales, but the points you accumulate from buying products for the salon also help you save money on future products and provide you with benefits like in-salon education and exclusive releases so why wouldn’t you want to make products a regular highlight when it comes to your social media? Product photos are also a great opportunity to bring value to your clients by educating them on the best ways to use their products or who might benefit most from certain products!
PRODUCTS BEING USED
Although static photos of products you carry are a perfect way to educate your clients, photos of products being used are another amazing way to showcase these items. You could even create a carousel post with step-by-step instructions on how to use the products!
BEHIND-THE-SCENES/ACTION PHOTOS
To piggy-back off of the conversation of using product photos, another excellent way to bring you clients and potential clients into your world, is to show behind-the-scenes of beauty professionals working with clients and in the salon. This is also a great way to showcase your work without just taking a photo of the finished product.
NEGATIVE SPACE IMAGES FOR PROMOS
One type of photo that often goes forgotten until you need it, are photos that have some empty or negative space in them. Sometimes when you have an announcement, event, or promotion happening, you want an image that has some space for adding text. Keeping these types of posts on brand is easy if you make sure to take some of these types of photos periodically so you have them for use later.
BONUS: VIDEO CLIPS
I think we have all slowly come to the acceptance that video is one of the number one ways that our audiences consume content. So my advice? Anytime you find yourself taking photos of anything, take the extra minute to switch to video mode and take a few clips of what you are focused on. You never know when you will need those clips later and it will make your job sooooo much easier to already have them in your toolkit! Trust me, you’ll thank me later 😉
Pro-Tip:
Whenever you think about a photo or video that you think might be great to showcase on social media, add the idea to a list in your notes app on your phone or a notebook. That way when you have time to take some photos, you already have a list of all of the things you wanted to document 🙂
